dc.description.abstractXV newlineABSTRACT newlinePharmaceutical drugs and crimes are an ongoing debate in the contemporary world. These newlinecrimes have blown out of proportion and assumed serious proportions in India as well. The newlineproblem seems to be extended in the North-East, North-West, and South-West regions of the newlinecountry. These problems are about synthetic drugs: Tablets, Capsules, Powders, Syrups, and newlineInjections. The pharmaceutical drugs and crimes come under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 newlineand Rules, 1945, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The objective newlineof the study is to explore pharmaceutical drugs and crimes in India. This research has attempted newlineto address the trends, patterns, and challenges of pharmaceutical drugs and crimes in our country. newlineThe present research is based on the exploratory research design and mixed methods (a newlinecombination of quantitative and qualitative approaches) and adopted a grounded theory newlinemethodology. The secondary data sources are from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Annual Report newlinepublished by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The data has been analyzed newlinestatistically from the year 2011 to 2020. The primary data sources are from the Criminal Justice newlineSystem and Stakeholders involved the drugs control in India. The data has been analyzed newlinethematically based on the objective. Pharmaceutical drugs and crimes are more dangerous than newlineany other crimes and have deteriorating health consequences for the public at large. newlinePharmaceutical drugs and crimes are multifaceted criminal activity that creates an irreparable newlineloss to the citizens, economy, and national security. Hence, coordination and concerted efforts are newlinethe need of the hour to effectively counter the manufacture, distribution, sale, trafficking, misuse, newlineand abuse of pharmaceutical drugs in India. newline
