An effort is made to deposit Cobalt-based Stellite 6 powder having a regular spherical newlineshape with diameters ranging between 15and#956;m to 45and#956;m on an AISI 304 rolled stainless newlinesteel substrate without any bond coat. The atmospheric plasma spray deposition process newlinewas adopted with additive manufacturing for three different types of coating thicknessin newlinethe range of 74 and#956;m, 128 and#956;m, and 215 and#956;m..The effect of coating thickness on newlinemetallurgical properties and corrosion resistance behavior was investigated. Optical newlinemicroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Energy Dispersive X-ray newlineSpectroscopy (EDS) were employed to study the morphology of Stellite 6 coating. XRay newlineDiffraction was used for structural analysis and to identify the phase formation. It newlinewas observed that the sample with 128 and#956;m coating thickness provides the best result newlineconcerning microhardness and microstructure characteristics whereas the sample with newline215 and#956;m coating thickness provides the best corrosion resistance property. The reasons newlinefor the deviationwere investigated and the factors responsible for the deviation were newlineassigned in this investigation. newlineTest specimens with the required dimension as per ASTM standard were cutfor testing newlinefor erosion in a tribotesterusing alumina as erodent. Experiments for erosion were newlineconducted at room temperature with normal impingement angle and erosive wear is newlinenoted. Further, Sugeno Fuzzy rules are adopted for prioritizing a given set of input newlineparameters to predict the erosion wear loss. This experimental erosion volume loss as newlineoutput obtained by conducting experiments in an erosion tribotester is compared with newlinethat of the theoretical and the developed ANFIS model to validate the resultant models. newlineClose tolerance of 6.48%,0.836%, and 6.04% deviation was observed for specimen-1 newlinewhen the theoretical analysis is compared with the experimental and the predicted newlineANFIS model. newlineAn experimental investigation of the functional behavior such as corrosion, newlinemicrohardness, and erosion of the coated steel at different operating temperatures
