Abstract
newline Antibiotic resistance is one of the most pressing issues around the
newlineworld today and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA
newlineinfection is one such complaint where the standard therapeutic procedures
newlineinvolving powerful antibiotics have failed in controlling the infection Due to
newlinefailure of the existing antibiotics with ever raising resistant bacterial strains at
newlinea matchless rate new line of therapeutic agents with capability to fight against
newlineresistant bacterial strains is in demand Under such circumstances apart from
newlineregular antibiotics the effectiveness of nonantibiotics plant derived agents
newlineand combinatorial therapies have also been investigated some of which has
newlinesucceeded as potent antibacterial agents In the present study antibacterial
newlinepotency of the nonantibiotics NA troxipide TR and mebeverine Hcl ME
newlineisolated fraction IF from plant Blepharis boerhavifolia BB methanolic
newlineextract commercial phenolic flavonoid apigenin AP and their combinations
newlinewith ampicillin AM and ceftriaxone CEF against MRSA strain have been
newlineinvestigated using microbiological assays
