Excessive alcohol consumption, HBV and HCV infections, aflatoxin newlinecontaminated food, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis are considered as important newlineetiological factors for the progression of CLD. According to WHO, India is newlineresponsible for 2.95% of total liver disease-related deaths, where HBV infection newlineand alcohol intake remained the most common cause of CLD, and primary runner newlinefor cirrhosis/HCC. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the cytotoxic, pro-apoptotic and cell cycle arresting potential of EBLE against newlinehepatocellular cancer cell line i.e. HepG2 cells newlineDILI is one of the most serious problem worldwide and it is a cause of newlineconcern. According to Devarbhavi et al. (2010), anti-tubercular drugs and dapsone newlinetogether responsible for 63% of DILI in the Indian patients. Hence, DILI poses a newlinechallenging clinical problem with respect to both diagnosis and management newline(Ezhilarasan, 2019). Despite significant advancement in diagnosis, hazard newlineidentification and risk mitigation, DILI continues to be a difficult task for drug newlinedevelopment and a major health concern worldwide (Mosedale and Watkins, newline2017). Therefore, in this study, we investigated the antioxidant and newlinehepatoprotective effect of EBLE against DDS alone, INH alone and DDS+INHinduced newlinehepatotoxicity in rats. newlineThe aim, objectives, hypothesis and ethical consideration are embodied in newlinethe forthcoming chapter of this thesis newline
