dc.description.abstractClimate Change has been a part of greater problem of environmental degradation on the newlineglobe. The attempts of global community with respect to climate change are being made newlinepolitically, socially and legally. The research has made a genuine attempt to show that the newlinepresent crisis of Climate Change and Global warming is a very dangerous one. An analysis newlineof the same shows that it is an alarming situation, the climate time bomb is ticking ready newlineto explode anytime. No number of efforts is sufficient to face this giant problem. GHG newlineemissions are constantly rising. Various frameworks and mechanisms, though effective on newlinepaper have to become effective in action also. newlineInternational conferences are held to achieve common aims to build a better world. The newlinereality is quite weird. Big nation states cajole, threaten and bully small nation states to newlinesurrender to their selfish agendas. These meets witness top leaders speaking on behalf of newlinecorporate houses; various NGOs which explicitly support environment protection newlineimplicitly join hands with the most polluted companies to get access to their vast financial newlineand technical resources. Developed countries go to any possible extent to achieve their newlinenational interests. Poor, developing countries do not have sufficient options except to fall newlinein line. Behind the extravaganza of these negotiations is the grim reality of every party newlinetrying to fulfil its immediate interests. It is difficult to find a leader or a businessman newlinestanding solely for the cause of larger interests of the international community. The newlineresearch has also tried to show that national priorities are not only made under pressure of newlinecorporates, they are the result of pressure of developed states as well. The unending gap newlinebetween the North and the South is a reality of environmental politics and negotiations. newlineThe underlying problem is that both the sides are pursuing growth.
