dc.description.abstractnewlineThe present investigations on Studies on Varietal Screening and Effects of Intercropping on Insect pests of Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] were conducted at agronomy farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur during Kharif 2022 and 2023. The maximum whitefly population was recorded in JS 20-116 variety (5.47 and 4.78 whiteflies/ 3 leaves) during Kharif 2022 and 2023 respectively. The maximum population of jassids were recorded in JS 20-116 variety (3.23 and 3.04 jassids/ 3 leaves) during Kharif 2022 and 2023 respectively. The maximum mean larvae semilooper population/ mrl was observed in JS 20-116 variety (5.41 and 4.60), the maximum mean larvae of tobacco caterpillar population/mrl was observed in JS 20-116 variety (5.92 and 4.83), The maximum per cent infestation of leaf miner was recorded from variety JS 20-116 (5.47 and 5.75 per cent/ mrl), and maximum per cent plant infestation caused by stem fly was found in variety JS 20-116 (40.00 and 37.03) in RSC10-46 during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively. The maximum grain yield was recorded from variety JS 20-98 with 2877.78 and 2829.63 kg/ha recorded during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively. newlineThe minimum mean population of tobacco caterpillar/mrl was found with Soybean + sesame (1.51 and 1.01 larvae/mrl) during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively. The minimum infestation of semilooper (1.36 and 1.16 larvae/mrl) were found in soybean + maize intercropping during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively. The soybean + sesame intercrop had the fewest larvae, with a density of pod borer 1.93 and 1.73 larvae per five plants during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively. The minimum plant damage after 7 days due to stem fly was found with Soybean +sesame intercrop with 2.96 and 3.33 per cent, during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively, while the minimum plant damage after 10 days due to stem fly was found with Soybean + sesame and Soybean + Maize intercrop with 5.18 and 4.98 per cent, during Kharif 2022 and 2023, respectively.
