PMSM drives have been increasingly newlineapplied in a wide variety of industrial and automotive applications. These drives are also newlineused in hybrid electrical vehicles and washing machines due to high power density, newlineimproved efficiency, larger torque to inertia ratio and high reliability. newlineThe controlling of PMSM drive has undergone remarkable improvements with the newlinepassage of time, however, numerous-challenges are yet to be resolved in order to improve newlinethe performance of this drive to be practically viable in the current scenario and future newlinecommercial applications. According to the literature survey, it is found that the DC and newlineinduction motor drives face various constraints, hence, researchers and manufacturers newlineprefer the PMSM drive over these. Therefore, a lot of scope is prevalent to take initiative in newlinethis area to design and develop enhanced and compact intelligent PID Speed Controller for newlinePMSM drive. newlineThe performance of the drive depends on the choice of Artificial Intelligence newlinetechniques based speed controller used for controlling the speed of the drive. Besides this, newlinea stringent task is to increase the performance of the drive by minimizing the speed and newlinetorque ripples that are a major reason for noise and vibrations. Moreover, the performance newlineis further enhanced by improving the transient response specifications during the various newlineoperating modes. The transient response specifications considered in this analysis are risetime, peak-time, settling time and peak overshoot.
