A study on reading habits preference pattern and satisfaction level of kannada farm magazines readers

Abstract

The study was undertaken in sixteen selected districts of Karnataka state based on newlineavailability of the strength of the farm magazines readers. The farm magazines selected for newlinethe study were Krishimunnade, Sirisambruddhi and Krishimitra. A sample size of 60 Kannada newlinefarm magazines readers from each of the magazines were selected, thus constituting a total newlinesample of 180 Kannada farm magazines readers for the study. newlineA large majority of the respondents possessed radio sets, televisions, subscribe to newlinenews papers, and farm magazines. Majority of the respondents belongs to medium newlinecosmopoliteness, medium progressiveness, medium economic motivation and medium risk newlineorientation categories. newlineMajority of the respondents (57.22%) belongs to medium reading habits category of newlinefarm magazines, 62.78 per cent of the respondents read the complete information published newlinein the farm magazines. Majority of the respondents preferred 14 font size letters, 5 to 7 newlinesentences per paragraphs, two tables per article, illustrations in the farm of photos, caption of newlinethe article in suggestive farm, and content should appear on first inner page. newlineAbout 60.00 per cent of the respondents were satisfied with name of the magazines, newlineattractiveness, quality and appropriateness of the illustrations, timeliness, clarity and accuracy newlineof the message, size of the letters used in the magazines and readability of the farm newlinemagazines. newlineIt was found by the correlation analysis that the variables such as education, annual newlineincome, social participation, mass media utilization, extension contact, cosmopoliteness, newlineprogressiveness, economic motivation and risk orientation had significant relationship with the newlinevariables reading habits and satisfaction level of respondents. Multiple regression analysis newlinerevealed that the variables education and risk orientation exhibited positive significant newlinerelationship with reading habits and satisfaction level of the farm magazines readers. newlineMajority of the respondents encountered the problem of irregular distribution, lack of newlinecomprehensive
