Abstract
Children hold the promise of our future. Working with and helping children have always been a priority across time and cultures. The Life skills intervention package offer an approach to contribute to the well being of the Children and help them to meet day - to - day challenges. The intervention package on life skills education for the asthmatic and epileptic children helped to improve their health status, knowledge on their illness, attitude towards illness and practice on life skills. Hence the intervention package on life skills education makes the difference in the case of asthmatic and epilepsy affected children. The result proven that asthma and epilepsy alone have 10.48% prevalence, there are more other chronic illnesses, therefore the intervention package on life skill education will be is very effective for the chronic ill children. Indeed the intervention package on life sill education can be used for the chronically ill children at home, schools and community. Research design: Both Quantitative and Qualitative research approach were adopted for this study. CONCLUSION: The intervention package on life skill is an effective method for asthmatic and epileptic children in their over all development mainly in academic and health. Improving preventive programmes for chronic illness or providing awareness campaigns for school children by life skill intervention package may be appropriate strategies to challenge the illnesses of the chronically ill children and should be investigated in future research. IMPACT OF THE STUDY: An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention package on life skill education among children with specific chronic illness at Government high schools, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Children who suffer from chronic illnesses are special children who are forced to deal with different situations. In addition to coping with developmental tasks of adolescence, children with chronic illness have to address the psychological and physical health relating to their illness.
