dc.description.abstractThis thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of micropolar fluid, couple stress fluid newlineand ferro-couple stress fluid in various geometric bearing configurations, taking into newlineaccount key factors such as surface roughness, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), porosity newlineand viscosity variation. The study theoretically examines the influence of plate shape, newlineporosity, surface roughness, viscosity variation and MHD effects on the performance of newlinethese lubrication systems. The comparative impacts of these factors across different newlineparameters are evaluated and presented throughout the thesis. newlineTo facilitate this analysis, a modified Reynolds equation has been derived for each newlinefluid type micropolar, couple stress and ferro-couple stress incorporating the unique newlinecharacteristics of each fluid. The expression for pressure is obtained from this modified newlineReynolds equation is subsequently used to derive critical performance metrics, including newlineworkload and squeeze film time. newlineAdditionally, MATLAB software has been extensively utilized to plot and visualize newlinethe results of the study.
