A Novel Fluorescent Bio Sensing Strategy Based on Functionalized Nanomaterials for Highly Sensitive and Selective Detection of Toxic Metal Ions and Biomolecules

Abstract

In recent years, heavy metals and biomolecules contamination have harmed the environment, food safety, and public health. Heavy metals and biomolecules, which release toxins into water bodies and foods from industrial effluents and illegal human activity, can enter the freshwater ecosystems and food chains of people and animals from various anthropogenic sources. This causes several adverse effects on the biological systems of humans and animals. Hence, appropriate measures must be taken to detect heavy metals and biomolecules in water and food samples. Numerous detection systems have been employed to control pollution. Among them, the DNA and nanomaterials based biosensors are highly sensitive, selective, simple, and cost-effective. Therefore, nanomaterials and DNA-based fluorescence biosensors are the most effective method for detecting heavy metals and biomolecules newline
