Value addition of deoiled rice bran by employing it as a feedstock for the production of fungal carbohydrases and bioethanol

Abstract

newline The present study successfully validated an economically viable strategy for the management of deoiled rice bran, a cheap and untapped agro-industrial waste, by utilizing its carbohydrate abundance in two processes including the production of multiple carbohydrases as well as ethanol. A low-cost technology was developed for the in-house production of enzyme consortium which worked well in efficient saccharification of deoiled rice bran exhibiting 95% carbohydrate conversion, consequently reducing the overall production cost of bioethanol with an yield of 153.68 g/kg of dry feedstock.
