Genetic architecture and stability analysis for yield contributing traits in maize

Abstract

The present investigation entitled Genetic architecture and stability analysis for yield contributing traits in maize ( Zea mays L. ) was conducted at C. S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur- 208002. (U.P.) the experimental material comprised of 10 inbreeds lines viz. CIMMYT (K-13), TSK-44, TSK-27, TSK-29, TSK-109, TSK-110, TSK-10, TSK-79, TSK-99 and TSK-39 along with three checks (SURAJ GOLD, DECALD and AZAD UTTAM) in completely randomized block design for days to 50% tasseling, days to 50% silking, days to physiological maturity, plant height (cm), cob length (cm), cob diameter (cm), kernel rows per cob, kernels per row, 100 seed weight (g), germination (%), seedling length (cm.), seed vigour index, harvest index (%), biological yield per plant, grain yield per plant and shelling (%) quantitative characters in maize. All the 45 F1 s and 10 parents along with three checks were grown at three different locations in different seasons Zaid 2014, Rabi 2014-15 and Kharif 2015 for stability analysis; during Kharif 2015 10 parents, 45 F1s and 45 F2 s along with checks were grown for diallel analysis of yield and its attributes
