Variability of arsenic in rice in rural bengal and its exposure to human health

Abstract

The presence of natural As in groundwater is a global issue. The occurrence of As in newlinegroundwater is serious in entire South-East Asia notably in BDP (Bangladesh, West Bengal, newlineIndia). Serious concern has been picked towards As exposure because As is one of the newlinecarcinogenic metalloid and high exposure can cause several health effect (skin lesson, newlinepigmentation, hyper keratosis, neurological disorder, cardiovascular disorder and even newlinecancer). State of West Bengal (India) is already recognized as As hotspot because millions newlineof rural people are suffering from arsenicosis as well as exposure risk. The problem is more newlinecompounded because both water [primary source and consumption of locally grown food newline(mostly rice)] are already identified towards contribution of As exposure for human health. newline
