A comparative clinical study on effect of bhavita Trivrut churna and trivrut churna as virechaka yoga in healthy individuals

Abstract

Ayurveda literature recommends that a healthy individual should undergo Shodhana Karma as a part of Rutu Charya. Trivrut is one of the best Virechaka Dravya, particularly it is newlineSukha Virechaka and its yoga s are widely used for Virechana Purpose. The dosage for Trivrut in Madhyama Koshta is 24 gms added with QS honey as Anupana. The approx. quantity of Yoga with honey is around 70-75 gms which is not easily palatable. In classics it has been mentioned that Bhavna Samskar can increase the efficacy of Medicines which may result in reduced dosage newlineform. Hence, this study was planned to evaluate the comparative effect of Bhavita Trivrut Churna and Trivrut Churna as a Virecaka Yoga in Healthy individuals. As the effect of Virechana drug varies according to Koshtha, therefore it is mandatory to have same Koshtha in both the groups in comparative studies. So healthy individuals of Madhyama Koshtha were included in this study. After Screening (with Health Assesment Questionaire and Kostha) total 90 healthy newlineindividuals were included in the study and randomly divided into 2 groups . Group A healthy individuals were administered with 12 gms of Bhavita Trivrut Churna and Group B were administered with 24 gms of Trivrut Churna. After completion of study it has been found that The palatability of Bhavita Trivrut Churna was better than Trivrut churna .The Time taken for the onset of 1st Virechana Vega was better in Group B i.e. Trivrut Churna group for Virechaka Yoga newlinethan Group A i.e. Trivrut Churna.The total no. of Virechana Vegas : the volunteers of Group B ie Trivrut Churna Group attained Pravara and Madhayama Shudhhi where as in Group A all the volunteers got Madhyama Shudhhi. The total Duration of Virechana Karma is almost the same in both the group (maximum of 7 to 9 hours were observed in both groups) .The overall Antiki Shuddhi produced by Bhavita Trivrut Churna and Trivrut Churna was Kaphanta in both groups.
