An Investigation on Aerodynamic Characteristics of Tab Controlled Axisymmetric and Asymmetric Supersonic Jets

Abstract

Supersonic jet mixing is a critical aspect in the aerospace industry. It plays a pivotal role in mitigating the aeroacoustic noise, improving combustion efficiency and enhancing the stealth characteristics of military aircraft. Therefore the understanding and the precise control of jet mixing is essential. For a comprehensive understanding the present study initially investigates the aerodynamic characteristics of Mach 1.6 axisymmetric supersonic jet. Experimental tests are conducted using an open supersonic jet facility. The quantitative analysis is performed through centerline and radial pressure measurements, while qualitative assessments utilize Schlieren flow visualizations. newline
