Abstract
The development of futuristic energy has become the major concern in recent years due to alarming rate of pollution. Although fossil fuels play a major role in providing global energy demands, the combustion of fossil fuels produce tons of greenhouse gases and creates major environment and health issues. Hydrogen is a clean and sustainable form of energy and it is the best alternative fuel for the future to overcome this situation. At present hydrogen is produced by steam reforming of natural gases, but this process involves large amount of CO2 emission. Solar hydrogen production can-alleviate energy and environmental issues and significantly reduces the fossi lfuel consumption. Water supplies plentiful hydrogen by water splitting.Electrolysis of water using solar cell, photo-electrochemical water splitting and photo catalytic water splitting are the routes available to produce hydrogen using sunlight and water. Photo catalytic water splitting has attracted many researchers due to its simplicity. The photo catalyst dispersed in water absorbs sunlight and split water into hydrogen and oxygen.
