Synthesis and Applications of Proline Based Organocatalysts in Chemical Transformations

Abstract

In the present work, we have synthesized two new proline based newlineorganocatalysts, and studied it s applications in the different chemical transformations newlinefor the synthesis of some heterocyclic compounds and C-C bond forming asymmetric newlinereactions. The thesis work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is divided newlineinto two sections, Section A deals with the introduction to field of organocatalysis, newlineand Section B describes the synthesis and characterization of new proline based newlineorganocatalysts. Applications of these catalysts were studied in different chemical newlinetransformations. Second chapter deals with the study of asymmetric synthesis of newlinechromene compounds. It is divided into two sections, each section describing the newlinedetails of the asymmetric synthesis of one family of chromene skeleton. The third newlinechapter is divided into two sections; section A and B describes asymmetric synthesis newlineof chiral 2-Amino-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile. The C-C bond forming asymmetric newlinereactions are studied in detail in chapter four and five. Chapter four is grouped in to newlinetwo sections; section A deals organocatalytic enantioselective conjugate addition newlinereaction of nitromethane to 2-iminochromene and organocatalytic enantioselective newlineconjugate addition of indoles to 2-iminochromenes was studied in section B. newlineAsymmetric Michael addition reactions were studied and incorporated in chapter five. newlineIn section A, asymmetric 1,2-Michael addition of dicarbonyl to nitrostyrene and newlineasymmetric 1,2-Michael addition of indole to nitrostyrene was studied in section B. newlineAbstract newlineShrikant S.
