Abstract
Retrial queues have been widely used to provide stochastic modelling of many problems arising in telecommunication, computer networks, production systems, call centres and in real time situations. In this thesis, retrial queueing models with priority, collision, impatient customers, two phases of service, feedback, active breakdown, starting failure, Bernoulli vacation and orbital search are discussed. The basic definition of queues, characteristics of queueing theory, the objective of the research and the literature collections in the area of retrial queues are presented in chapter one. Chapter two deals with batch arrival retrial queue with pre-emptive resume priority, collision, feedback, Bernoulli vacation and orbital search. In Chapter three, a feedback batch arrival retrial queue with impatient customers, multi optional repair, Bernoulli vacation and orbital search is considered. Two phase batch arrival retrial queue with starting failure, customer impatience, feedback and Bernoulli vacation is analysed in chapter four. Chapter five provides two phase batch arrival retrial queue with impatient customers, active breakdown, feedback and orbital search. Unreliable batch arrival retrial queueing system with multi optional second phase, pre-emptive resume priority, feedback and orbital search is addressed in chapter six. In Chapter seven, batch arrival retrial queue with starting failure, multi optional second phase, customer impatience and orbital search is discussed.
newlineAll the models are mathematically formulated and analyzed using supplementary variable technique under steady state. Practical justifications are provided for all the developed models. The influence of various parameters on the system behavior are illustrated numerically using MATLAB software.
