Abstract
newlineThe aim of this study was to compare the effects of computer based learning and traditional
newlinemethod on student s attitudes and achievement towards analytical economics. The present
newlineteaching techniques needs revised thinking to make learning more effective for students. In fact
newlinethe teaching methodology should be such by which the students can be involved in reading,
newlinethinking, problem solving and then learning by their own efforts. For this purpose self-learning
newlinemethod is a very effective media. There are several Self Learning Techniques in which learner
newlinecan learn by their own pace. Patel, Bhanubhai (1993) and Sakhiya, R.B. (2006) also did an
newlineexperiment for self-learning technique. They both found self-learning technique effective.
newlinePresent study was differing from these two studies because researcher made CBP with the help
newlineof computer programme MS Power point. Students of Std-XIIth (Economics) were selected for
newlinethe purpose of research. Can the subject Money, Banking and Foreign exchange rate be
newlinemade easier by using Computer Based Programmed (CBP)? Is the Programmed Learning
newlineMethod similarly effective for boys and girls? The investigator has thought about all such
newlinecrucial questions for undertaking this research. Hence the topic A Study of the Effectiveness
newlineof Computer Based Programme on the Achievement of the Students of Standard XIIth in
newlineEconomics is selected for the presentation.
