Abstract

Building chronological frameworks for stratigraphy correlations in river basins spanning 130 to 60 ka is difficult and complex In the Indian subcontinent river basins such as the Kukadi Narmada Son and the Sagileru river basins contain a number of volcanic ash deposits representing the Youngest Toba Tuff YTT volcanic eruption of ~75 ka Not much work has been carried out on the volcanic ash deposits of the Sagileru basin This thesis deals with the reconstruction of the late Quaternary stratigraphy and paleoenvironments of the Sagileru basin Andhra Pradesh, India with particular reference to the volcanic ash deposits whether it can be used as a straigraphic marker horizon and whether all the ash deposits in the Sagirelu river basin are of the same age as equivalent to the age of the YTT dated to ~74 ka newline
