A QUAN-qual mixed research method was employed to study behavioral problems and newlineresiliency among adolescents and to know the influence of parenting practices and its newlinecorrelates on a sample of 507 urban and rural adolescents-parents dyads of Dharwad (n=245) newlineand Jaintia hills (n=262) regions. The results revealed that urban adolescents of both regions newlinehad high resiliency (sense of mastery and relatedness) and low level of behavioral problems newline(externalizing and internalizing problems) compared to rural adolescents. In both regions newlineurban parents had better positive parenting practices, better mental health status and marital newlinesatisfaction compared to rural parents. Irrespective of regions, younger male adolescents (12 newlineto 13 years-old) had less internalizing problems and sense of emotional reactivity compared to newlineolder female adolescents (14 to 15 years-old). Likewise, firstborn adolescents had high newlineresiliency (sense of mastery and sense of relatedness) compared to middle born and last born newlineadolescents. Among adolescents whose parents had high level of education, high occupation newlinelevel, and belonged to smaller family size and whose parents had high level of parenting newlinepractices, better mental health status and marital satisfaction had significantly high pro social newlinebehavior and high level of resiliency (sense of mastery and relatedness). On the basis of the newlineresults, an intervention package was developed entitled A Guide to positive parenting and newlineManagement of adolescents . The efficacy of the package was tested on 24 parents and 50 newlineadolescents through quasi-experimental research design. The post intervention revealed a newlinesignificant decrease of behavioral problems (externalizing and internalizing problems). newlineConsequently, there was an increase in positive parenting practices (parental involvement) newlineand decrease in negative parenting practices (inconsistent discipline and poor monitoring). newlineThus, intervention program proved to be effective in enhancing effective parenting practices newlineand reduction of adolescents behavior problem
