Abstract
The study revealed that research publications on dental science increased during
newlinethe study period both at the Global level and in India. India has produced 3098 research
newlinedocuments and the Indian share of total Global publications in Dental Science over a
newlineperiod of 20 years is 2.47%. Huge numbers of documents are in the form of articles
newlinepublished in journals. In the world, a total of 140 countries are engaged in dental
newlinescience research, highest 98% of research publications contributed by the top 24
newlinecountries, out of which the USA is in top position by contributing the highest
newlinepublications and India stands at 13th place. The Doubling Time of global dental science
newlinepublication is on an increasing trend. A total of 3098 publications are contributed by
newline12,749 authors in India, out of which 540 publications are international collaborative
newlinepublications with 45 countries. Out of these 540 international collaborative
newlinepublications, 117 papers are published in collaboration with the USA authors. More
newlinethan 500 institutions including academic and research institutions have been engaged in
newlineresearch on dental science in India. Manipal University, occupies the 1st rank by
newlinecontributing the highest number (209) of publications. Bradford s law of scattering is
newlinetested, but the number of articles in each zone does not fit the 1/3 of the total articles.
newlineHowever, the researcher has successfully applied the Bradford s law of scattering using the Leimkuhler model. This study is useful to students, teachers, research scholars,
newlinescientists and library and information science professionals for their collection
newlinedevelopment in their library and information centre. The results of this study would also
newlinebe useful to the academic administrators and policy makers at institutional and national
newlinelevel who are involved in dental science research.
