Abstract
Changes in climatic variability and LULC change play a pivotal role in watershed hydrology.
newlineTo understand the impact of LULC and climatic variations on watershed hydrology, a study
newlinewas conducted in Silwani Watershed using SWAT model. The quantitative analysis of
newlinemorphometric parameters was conducted to understand the important aspect of the
newlinecharacterization of watersheds. The Mann-Kendall (MK) test was employed to analyse the long
newlineterm meteorological variables (rainfall, maximum and minimum temperature, diurnal
newlinetemperature and evapotranspiration) for the detection of spatial and temporal trends. Satellite
newlinedata (CARTOSAT- DEM, - 30m resolutions) was used in this study to understand the drainage
newlinecharacteristics of the watershed. About 22 important parameters (Linear, Aerial and Relief
newlineaspects) have been calculated in this study to understand the characteristics of the watershed.
newlineAlso, Land use and land cover statistics and maps were prepared by using the Landsat satellite
newlinedata for the years 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020.
newlineThe result of MK test of annual and winter season maximum temperature revealed an
newlineincreasing trend. In contrast, in the monsoon season and summer season, none of the stations
newlineshowed a significant trend. Also, in the case of minimum temperature, the yearly and winter
newlineseason stations showed a significant increasing trend. The trend of the diurnal temp of monsoon
newlineseason of Jharkhand has exhibited a significantly declining trend in the entire district except
newlinefor Giridih. The annual monsoon rainfall of most of the stations exhibited a significantly
newlinedecreasing trend in the study area. At the Godda station, annual rainfall showed a maximum
newlinedeclining trend (Sen s slope = -2.49). The yearly evapotranspiration does not exhibit any
newlinesignificant trend during the study period. The information about the spatial and temporal
newlinevariability in a rainfed agricultural dominant area is important for sustainable development.
newlineResults of quantitative analysis of morphometric parameters conclude that waters
