newlinecomplex crystals exhibit more advantages compared to organic molecules
newlineoffering a variety of structures higher environmental stability and much

newlineBimetallic thiocyanate AB
newlinecrystals have emerged as potential nonlinear optical materials among the
newlinemetal organic compounds They belong to tetragonal crystallographic system
newlineand their crystal structures consist of two kinds of slightly flattened
newlinetetrahedral AN4 and BS4 These structural features provide with large
newlinemacroscopic nonlinearities and excellent physicochemical stabilities The
newlinespecial interest on bimetallic thiocyanates is their potential role in direct
newlinefrequency doubling of semiconductor diode lasers for the generation of
newlinecompact blue violet light However growth of good quality bimetallic
newlinethiocyanate single crystal encounters experimental difficulties like low
newlinesolubility solution instability and very low growth rate Different adducts like
newlinedimethyl sulfoxide DMSO N N dimethylacetamide DMA glycol
newlinemonomethyl ether GME and N methyl formamide NMF in bimetallic
newlinethiocyanate were introduced and found to be potential materials for nonlinear
newlineoptical applications
