Fluoride is a compound which is concerned most in human health. A newlineminimum amount is necessary to maintain normal health and to prevent newlinedental caries, higher intake for a long period leads to detrimental effects of newlineteeth, soft tissues and bones. newlineThe main objectives of this study was to investigate the toxic effect of newline200ppm of fluoride on cardiovascular system and other soft tissues and the newlinepossible protective role of magnesium and selenium against the fluoride newlinetoxicity in male Wister rats. newlineThe study was under taken keeping in view of paucity of information in newlinerelation to high fluoride exposure in population residing in fluoride endemic newlinezones and its impact on cardiac tissue. newlineThe significance of this study is to evaluate and explore the protective newlineeffects of magnesium and selenium through their antioxidant and ameliorative newlineproperties as well as reversal of histological alterations in myocardium of male newlinealbino rats exposed to chronic fluoride toxicity. newlineCurrent study on cardiovascular system of male albino wistar rats newlinereveled some useful and interesting aspects of effect of fluoride toxicity on newlinecardiovascular system. In the experimental protocol 200 ppm of fluoride was newlinegiven as a drinking water to experimental group for 100 days did show the newlinedetectable changes in morphology and histology of cardiac muscles. When an newlineintervention/ supplementation was offered in the form of selenium and newlinemagnesium, selenium was shown the reversal of morphological and newlinehistological changes in cardiac muscle. But magnesium did not show any of newlinethese changes. newlineOutcome of studies selenium rich food can be given as supplement to newlinepeople who live in fluoride endemic zones, as preventive measures to detoxify newlinethe effects of chronic fluoride toxicity on cardiovascular system. newline
