Abstract
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) is one of the heterogeneous wireless network which is created between vehicles. In VANET, each vehicle comprises computerized control modules and wireless transceivers that permits the vehicles to act like nodes. This VANET is considered as application oriented network for different real time appli cations such as applications related to vehicular safety, entertainment and transportation efficiency. These application related information is transferred by using the typical com munication technologies such as vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure. The major characteristics of VANET, such as diverse network densities, higher dynamic topology and intermittent connectivity causes the difficulty in the data transmission through the network. Moreover, the communication in the VANET is affected due to various attacks such as eavesdropping and forgery. In order to overcome these limita tions, an efficient routing mechanisms was developed in the VANET communications. At first, the Energy Aware Methodical Data Forwarding (EAMDF) is used to improve the energy efficiency of the overall network. Here, the location based greedy approach is used to transmit the data packets and the routing efficiency is improved using the node s local information. Then, the predictive flooding based algorithm is used in the VANET to enable the flooding to obtain an optimal path through the vehicles. Since, the node s location is detected by using the Kalman filter based location prediction and the advantage of Kalman filter takes only less time to predict the location. Finally, se cure communication is achieved in the cluster based VANET. The cluster based VANET is created by using K-means clustering which enhances the scalability and bandwidth. The privacy of nodes present in the clusters are improved using the trust degree. This trust degree is the combination of the direct trust and indirect trust value.
