Abstract
newlineMost of the present day signal processing strategies revolve around
newlinelinear time invariant systems Though these methods are popular and
newlineuseful in many applications their performance degrades when the effects
newlineof nonlinear components are dominant Polynomial methods are
newlinesought as an alternative in this research work The work aims at modeling
newlinepolynomial nonlinear phenomena present in real time systems
newlineand signals employed for speech and image processing Volterra power
newlineseries that realizes polynomial filters as combinations of quadratic cubic
newlineand higher order systems with linear systems is studied The work
newlinefocuses on quadratic systems that can model the nonlinear effects in
newlinethe generation and processing of speech and image signals with the
newlineobjective of achieving better performance parameters than those offered
newlineby linear systems and other nonlinear systems Special design
newlinemethodologies are employed for designing quadratic filters The computational
newlinechallenges arising from the usage of quadratic systems are
newlineovercome by special hardware implementation schemes
