Abstract
Cybercrimes have been on the rise in India which is evident from the reports and
newlinestatistics. Five lustrous cybercrimes which have created havoc in the entire nation are
newlinemade part of present study. It has been observed that illegal hacking has remained as
newlineone of the oldest cybercrime and many other forms of cybercrimes stem out of
newlinehacking as such it is imperative to understand hacking and how the same is
newlineperpetrated. It has also been observed that online financial frauds commonly know as
newlinePhishing are eating India like termite. Hundreds of cases are being reported every day
newlineand many cases go un-noticed. There is dire need to prevent phishing from occurring.
newlineReserve Bank of India has been time and again giving guidelines to prevent phishing
newlinebut such guidelines have not proved potent yet and more reforms are required to be
newlinetaken in this regard. There is specific need to evoke special provisions for phishing in
newlineInformation Technology Act which could curb the menace. Cyber pornography had
newlinealready caused much nuisance but now with advancement of technology, cyber
newlinepornography has widened its scope and included child pornographies, cyber-sex
newlinetrafficking, online pornographic content leading to mental health problems in young
newlineminds and also leading to violence under its ambit. Laws qua regulating pornographic
newlinecontent available on internet is sine qua non and strict ban on child pornography is
newlineneed of the moment.
