Cybercrime in India A comparative study with reference to United States And Singapore

Abstract

Cybercrimes have been on the rise in India which is evident from the reports and newlinestatistics. Five lustrous cybercrimes which have created havoc in the entire nation are newlinemade part of present study. It has been observed that illegal hacking has remained as newlineone of the oldest cybercrime and many other forms of cybercrimes stem out of newlinehacking as such it is imperative to understand hacking and how the same is newlineperpetrated. It has also been observed that online financial frauds commonly know as newlinePhishing are eating India like termite. Hundreds of cases are being reported every day newlineand many cases go un-noticed. There is dire need to prevent phishing from occurring. newlineReserve Bank of India has been time and again giving guidelines to prevent phishing newlinebut such guidelines have not proved potent yet and more reforms are required to be newlinetaken in this regard. There is specific need to evoke special provisions for phishing in newlineInformation Technology Act which could curb the menace. Cyber pornography had newlinealready caused much nuisance but now with advancement of technology, cyber newlinepornography has widened its scope and included child pornographies, cyber-sex newlinetrafficking, online pornographic content leading to mental health problems in young newlineminds and also leading to violence under its ambit. Laws qua regulating pornographic newlinecontent available on internet is sine qua non and strict ban on child pornography is newlineneed of the moment. newline newline newline
