Abstract
SAR imaging is the category of Coherent imaging system. SAR
newlineimages are consisting of the multiplicative noise called speckle. This speckle
newlinedegrades the quality of the image and reduces the fine details of the image.
newlineBut SAR images have many applications like Crop production forecasting,
newlineSea ice monitoring, Glacier monitoring, Forest fire monitoring, Ocean wave
newlinespectra, Ship detection, Surface deformation detections and Monitoring
newlinedisasters like Flood, Volcanic eruptions and Oil spills. Hence the first and
newlineforemost step is to remove the speckle noise that exists in SAR image.
newlineIn this thesis, the different despeckling techniques are
newlineexplained. These methods remove the speckle present in SAR images and
newlineenhance the fine details and feature extraction. This thesis explains about the
newlinedifferent techniques adopted to despeckle the SAR images say, Spatial
newlinefiltering, and Hybrid Spatial filtering and Transform domain filteing with
newlineOptimization. In addition to this, it is explained about the different methods
newlineof despeckling the SAR color images In this technique the basic Lee, Kuan and Frost are utilized in
newlinedespeckling of SAR images. Even then after the removal of speckle the
newlineimages are blurred and it is not clear. Hence to obtain better result, Hybrid
newlineMean Median filters are applied.
