Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills Through Theatre of the Oppressed An Experimental Study

Abstract

newline Critical Thinking in the contemporary educational context is linked to the intellectual development of a learner (Erikson and Erikson, 2019), turning it into a buzzword in the recent past. The adoption of the term as an end product of education came into existence on the grounds of recognizing student autonomy, preparing students for success in life, and fostering democratic citizenship (Hitchcock, 2022). Furthermore, UNICEF, UNESCO, and WHO have listed Critical Thinking as one of the ten core life skills of the twenty-first century for improving the living standards of people (Bignotia et al., 2022, p. 351). Additionally, with the inception of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), the education system in India has also brought to the spotlight, the importance of incorporating Critical Thinking in the curriculum, as one of its major goals.
