Fourth Generation 4G or Next Generation Wireless Networks
newline NGWN enables the integration and interworking of current wireless
newlineSystems With 4G NGWNs user demands various levels of broadband
newlineservices voice data and multimedia across different wireless networks and
newlineoperators for seamless roaming at vehicular speeds The process of automatic
newlineswitching across different networks without any interruption is known as
newlinevertical handover The existing system lacks standard handover interfaces and
newlinescalability I e it does not provide seamless roaming across different
newlineoperators and different networks Therefore it has limited QoS during
newlineheterogeneous handover It is inefficient and impractical to consider received
newlinesignal strength RSS as the sole criterion for heterogeneous handover So
newlinemore complex metrics like momentary cost bandwidth power consumption
newlinenetwork conditions and user preferences are also considered for vertical
newlinehandover decision
newlineAlthough the existing network selection mechanisms ensure the
newlinemaximal user s Quality of Experience QoE by taking into account of user s
newlinepreferences and network conditions the multi dimensional decision problem
newlineis not addressed in the existing system
