Integrated model of positive childbirth experience for primipara a qualitative study

Abstract

World Health Organisation (2018) published a guideline which emphasizes the need to equalise the importance of positive childbirth experience and wellbeing of women to reducing maternal deaths. This research explores the components associated with childbirth experience of birthing women in newlineKerala, with respect to Positive Childbirth Experience and offering an opportunity to compare and contrast it based on two model of intrapartum care- midwifery model of care and biomedical model of care and develop an newlineintegrated model of care for positive childbirth experience of low risk Indian newlinePrimipara. The main body of the research consisted of qualitative study where the researcher conducted semi structured interviews with participants who were first time mothers and women who had vaginal birth after csection, from two models of care. Systematic text condensation as developed by Malterud (2012) was employed for data analysis. Then an integrated model of positive childbirth experience has developed based on the themes emerged from the data analysis. The study refers the conceptual newlineframe work for integration by Boon et. al. (2004).
