The bio fibers in the composites rise utilization day by day, as newlinethey are easily accessible, eco-friendly, modest and bio-degradable in newlinenature. Now a day, green manufacturing motto is well met by bio fiber newlinebased composite materials. Interest in the automotive sector and the newlineindustry is now spined towards bio fiber based products. Bio fiber newlinereinforced with polymer matrix raise the value of light weight, high newlinerigidity, better modulus and durability. The intention of this research is newlineto produce new bio fibers as reinforcement in to polymer matrix and to newlinepromote low weight as well as high strength materials. Caryota fiber is newlinelingo cellulosic and the fibers is obtained simply with consumption of newlineless energy. In this research, the extraction of Caryota fibers is manually newlinedone by retting process. The physical, chemical and mechanical newlinecharacteristics of Caryota fiber are found experimentally. Caryota fibers newlineare unidirectional and randomly fabricated the composite laminates into newlinesix different weight as 10%, 20%, 30%, 35%, 40% and 45%. This newlinecomposite preparation of unidirectional and randomly orientation of newlinecaryota fibers reinforced with the polyester matrix are manufactured newlineusing hydraulic compression molding process. The composite newlinespecimens are cut into the laminates according to the ASTM standards. newlinevi newlineThe ASTM standards specimens have conducted the tensile, flexural, newlineimpact, inter laminar shear stress, vibration and low velocity impact newlinetests of the composites. The 40wt % fiber content of the composites is newlinewell embedded in the matrix and shows better performance in the newlinemechanical properties. The half of the ruptured tensile, flexural, impact newlineand low velocity impact failure specimen is analyzed by Scanning newlineElectron Microscope (SEM). The tensile, flexural and impact failure newlinespecimens reveal the 40wt% composite laminates with strong fiber newlinematrix adhesion characteristics. The results explore the possibility of newlineapplying caryota fiber reinforced polyester composites with light load newlinebearing structural applications.
