Abstract
This research study explores the complex dynamics of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) investments in the state of Karnataka, India, with a particular focus on understanding the factors that shape their investment decisions. NRIs play a crucial role in driving economic growth in India through inward remittances. Their investment choices significantly impact the national economy and present opportunities for enhanced investment avenues. To achieve a comprehensive understanding of NRI investments, this study adopts a mixed-methods research approach, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative analyses. The study uncovers NRI investment preferences, highlighting a preference for low-risk and highly liquid assets such as bank deposits, government bonds, and gold-related investments. It also reveals differences in awareness levels among NRI groups, influenced by education, employment status, and age. The research identifies various factors influencing NRI investment decisions, including government initiatives, risk factors, and potential returns. The findings serve as the core of this research, offering a detailed exploration of the factors influencing NRI investment decisions. Through rigorous analysis, the study examines demographic variables such as age, marital status, education, and gender, revealing their profound effects on investment preferences. It unveils NRI investment patterns, highlighting a preference for low-risk and highly liquid assets, including bank deposits, government bonds, and gold-related investments. Moreover, the findings reveal noteworthy differences in investment awareness among NRI groups, particularly regarding bank deposits. Awareness levels are also influenced by education, employment status, and age. While age may impact awareness, it is not a significant differentiator across various age groups.
