Industries are implementing efficient production systems for practical survival in the present newlineera of intense market competition. Cellular Manufacturing (CM) is an approach for enhancing newlineoperations of job shop and batch shop production.CM is presently getting significant practical newlineconsiderations. The Cellular Manufacturing System (CMS) has been proven to be the most newlinesuitable technology for batch manufacturing organizations to enhance operational newlineperformance. The implementation of CM is dependent on various factors, barriers and their newlineinteractions. Such a holistic model can bring proper insights for the government and industry newlinefor onsite implementation of cellular manufacturing in industries for enhanced efficacy and newlinefunctioning. The research work reported in this thesis has been carried out to address newlineimplementation-related critical issues in CM. Specifically, the research has been directed newlinetowards (i) ranking and prioritizing essential CM factors identified from literature and verified newlineacademic and industrial experts, (ii) assessing the status and scope of CM in Indian newlinemanufacturing companies, and (iii) development of robust implementation framework for CM newlineand its validation. newlineThe study therefore revealed a total of 17 factors effect CM implementation. In this context, newlinethe first set of MCDM technique used for ranking these identified factors was AHP and ANP. newlineThe study further utilized DEMATEL methodology to establish the relationship between newlineessential CM factors and to distinguish between causal factors and effect factors. Furthermore, newlineISM strategy along with MICMAC analysis was also used in order to achieve a basic required newlinemodel of the CM implementation. newline
