Abstract
newline In recent years we come across the increased number of fire
newlineaccidents in the society. To understand the current scenario of this fire
newlinebehavior towards the buildings context, a background study was started.
newlineNineteen years of fire accidents data were collected. The fire accidents
newlinenumerical and its impacts were analyzed. Five buildings affected by fire
newlinewere selected. The fire influencing factors, the fire safety and life safety
newlinemeasures working conditions were studied. The fire accidents numerical
newlinedata study was indicated that, The numbers of fire accidents are
newlineincreasing in recent past years . The fire affected buildings study was
newlineindicated that, Few buildings were not provided with the fire safety
newlinemeasures and few buildings were provided with fire safety measures but
newlinethey were not working at the time of fire accident. This background
newlinestudy results raised the question and the research problem was
newlineidentified. The aim of the research was to evaluate the heat resistance
newlinecapability of building elements The Chennai City area was selected as
newlinestudy area. The commercial category mall type buildings were selected
newlineas sample from this study area. CMDA documentation source was used
newlinefor sample selection. Stratified sampling method was followed. These
newlineresearch elements and the research problem question gave a refined
newlineresearch problem statement as Evaluation of Fire and Life Safety
newlinePassive Measures of Mall Buildings . This topic related information
