dc.description.abstractThis thesis aims to develop a smart structure for active vibration control at different ambient temperatures. The proposed scheme is analytically derived, understood with simulations and verified with experimental results. In this scheme, the PLZT piezoelectric material is used as a sensor and as an actuator. The piezoelectric coefficient and dielectric constant of PLZT change with the variation in temperature. A cantilevered plate structure with instrumented PLZT patches is used as a smart structure. Finite element modelling of the plate structure is done using modified constitutive equations. Modal analysis is done to measure the modal displacement and velocity of the plate structure. Kalman estimator is used to estimate the displacement and velocity of the locations where piezoelectric sensor is not placed. Negative velocity feedback control law is used to control the vibrations in the plate structure for different ambient temperatures. newline
