Role of Sensitizers towards Enhancing the Response of Metal Oxide Nanostructures Based Gas Sensors

Abstract

In this thesis work, the sensing materials CuO, ZnO-NiO composite, and ZnO nanowire have been grown using the chemical route method and modified with different sensitizers. Monodispersed uniform CuO octahedrons were synthesised using the low-temperature water bath co-precipitation technique. The Zn doping effect on structural and NO2 sensing properties was investigated. The structural, optical, electronic, and sensing properties of the material have been analysed using various characterization tools. Zn-doped CuO films have shown higher sensing responses due to surface defects and enhanced adsorbed oxygen species. The work function study has confirmed the higher sensing of NO2 gas towards Zn-doped CuO films newline
