Abstract
A significant attention has been received by microstrip antenna in the area of
newlinemicro and millimetre wave communication because of its many unique and smart
newlineproperties such as having light weight, easy fabrication, low profile and appropriateness
newlineof mass production. It is found apposite due to affinity with solid state devices as well as
newlinediversified applications in wireless communication, satellite communication, radar,
newlinemissile and other strategic defence equipments. However, the patch antenna is associated
newlinewith some disadvantages of narrow bandwidth with single band, poor radiation and low
newlinegain.
newlineIn view of this, multi band microstrip antennas with different patch
newlinegeometries have been investigated to minimize the shortcoming of the antenna. As well
newlineas for getting better the bandwidth and gain of the patch antenna with different feed
newlinetechniques and using slot loading, notching, coupling of patch also has been performed
newlineand form the hardware. Designed antenna simulation is performed by means of IE3D
newlinesimulation software tool and study the effect of slot loading, notching of patches,
newlinecoupling of patches, step loading with right-angle band, shorting the ground to the patch
newlinein simulation. With optimum simulated result, hardware of proposed/designed antenna
newlinehas been formed. The testing has been performed with the help of analyzer kit of
newlinedesigned or proposed antenna. A comparison has been performed between simulated
newlineresult, theoretical result and experimental result. Such antennas can be given very
newlinepromising results that establish it as a versatile antenna in the broad field of microwave
newlinecommunity.
newlineIn the operating chapter, the patch antenna has been described along with
newlineadvantages, limitations and its relevance in many areas. The methods of analysis are also
newlinepresented within the chapter. The entire investigations for the multi band microstrip
newlinepatch antennas have been made employing circuit theory concept which is derived from
newlinethe cavity model. Therefore, only cavity model is described in detail along with network
