dc.description.abstractUnderstanding flavor oscillations, fermion masses and mass matrices as well as CP violation constitutes one of the important areas of investigation in the field of High Energy Physics, particularly in the case of Flavor Physics. Neutrino oscillations reveal physics Beyond Standard Model, implying non-zero and non-degenerate neutrino masses. Existence of CP violation in the case of quark mixing phenomenon provides a strong rationale for its existence in the leptonic sector, where experiments are already providing a fairly strong evidence of the and#948;_CP being non-zero. The observation of CP violation in leptons is complicated due to neutrinos interactions with matter, mixing genuine (intrinsic) and fake (extrinsic) CP effects from and#948;_CP and matter. In this thesis, working with the exact expressions for the transition probabilities in matter, we have investigated the issue of intrinsic and extrinsic CP violation as well as matter induced CPT violation. We have also studied the potential of ongoing and future long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments like T2K, NOand#957;A and T2HK as well as a low energy neutrino factory to determine CP and CPT violation. Measurement of the non-zero value of and#948;_CP would have important implications on the texture structure of lepton mass matrices. Assuming Majorana neutrinos, we have formulated a texture 2-zero complex symmetric mass matrices with only one complex element. This minimal neutrino mass matrix in flavor as well as non-flavor basis, not only accommodates the available neutrino oscillation data, but also makes interesting predictions for the unknown phenomenological parameters. newline
