Abstract
newlineWorking women have more stress in interpersonal relationship as well as in the
newlinework field. High levels of stress lead to poor work performance. Stress and improper
newlinedietary habits are the common problems for the nurses. So, they are likely to suffer from
newlineacid peptic diseases. Prevention, early diagnosis and specific nursing interventions help the
newlinenurses fight against acid peptic disease and to live a healthy life. And this can only be
newlinepossible through increase in knowledge and skill.
newlineSo, through the planned teaching programme, nurses can increase their knowledge
newlineand skill. Therefore, the investigator has chosen the topic i.e. Prevalence and
newlineprevention of Acid peptic disease by life style modification through planned teaching
newlineprogramme of the staff nurses working in different hospitals at Bhubaneswar,

newlineOBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
newline1. To assess the prevalence of acid peptic disease.
newline2. To identify the practices and preventive measures for acid peptic disease.
newline3. To assess the extent of effectiveness of planned teaching and sensitizing programme.

newlineAn evaluatory survey approach was found suitable for the present study.

newlinePre-test - Post Test design (before and after without control group) is applied for this

newlineThe study was conducted in different hospitals (Hi-Tech Medical College and
newlineHospital, SUM Medical College and Hospital, Neelachal Hospital) at Bhubaneswar,
newlineOdisha, Planned teaching Programme was administered in HI-Tech Medical College and
newlineHospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
newlineSAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
newlineIn this study, sample are the staff nurses those who are diagnosed as being
newlinesuffering from acid peptic disease. Sample size was 320. Random convenient sampling
newlinetechnique was used.
