Leadership Competencies Among Founders A Study of IT Startups in Bengaluru

Abstract

v newlineAbstract newlineIndia was an outsourcing hub until 2003. During early 2006 multinational corporation newlinecompanies started setting up their companies in India and leveraged the Indian based newlineoutsourcing. In 2015, the real startup boom started in India. Currently, India has over newline10,000 startups. On average, it takes 3 to 5 years for a startup to be successful and the newlinesuccess rate of startups is less than 25%. While these startups are trying to solve broad- newlinebased problems using technology, it is evident that apart from solving problems, other newlinecritical success factors are- customer management, financial support and leadership newlinecompetencies of founders. This research is aimed to find out the key Leadership newlineCompetencies required for successful Information Technology Startups in Bengaluru newlineIndia. The research being carried out by studying the literature of various cases of both newlinesuccessful and failed startups, conducting interviews with Venture capital investors, Angel newlineinvestors, Startup founders and academicians. A successful startup is defined as one which newlineis being funded or reached decent sales turn over.
