Abstract
Complex images and digital photographs in color images are of massive size to store in a file and occupy more storage space Transmissions of data over internet and across networks face this storage issues While transferring uncompressed image over the network, this may slow down the process consumes more time, data may be lost and even the quality of the image gets affected. This degrades i e quality of the image or data the overall performance of the system process In order to overcome this degradation the physical file size of the image or data must be reduced with no compromise in quality and this leads to the development of Image Compression Techniques Now a days many images undergo image compression operations which increases the speed in upload/download of data or image This process minimizes the space and bandwidth without change in quality of image including physical size or data Image compression techniques are of two types and#61472;Lossless Image Compression
newlineand#61472;Lossy Image Compression Lossless image compression is used to compress images in critical applications as it allows the exact original image to be reconstructed
newlinefrom the compressed one without any loss of the image data Lossy image
