dc.description.abstractThis study aims to assess the effectiveness of non weight bearing exercise on diabetic foot ulcer healing risk assessment and Health Related Quality of Life HRQOL among patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer A quantitative research with evaluative approach was used A total 242 patients with diabetic foot ulcer 121 in each group were recruited Simple random technique was used for the distribution of the participants Information on background variables ulcer healing blood flow risk assessment on unaffected foot and health related quality of life was obtained as a baseline data The study group participants were taught about non weight bearing exercise practiced on both the legs for 4 weeks and information pamphlet on foot care practices were distributed along with the routine care Patients were followed for 2 months and assessment was done at the end of each month The mean diabetic foot ulcer healing score in the study and control group during pretest posttest I and posttest II was 13 point 35 cm square 1 point 92 8 point 96 cm square 2 point 25 and 5 point 13 cm square 2 point 21 and control group 14 point 69 cm square 1 point 62 11 point 04 cm square 1 point 14 and 8 point 88 cm square 1 point 80 respectively had a statistically significant difference at the level of p less than 0 point 001 There was a statistically significant difference noted in the risk assessment score blood flow and health related quality of life at p less than 0 point 001 newlineNonweight bearing exercise is effective in enhancing wound healing by increasing the blood flow to the ulcer site the wound healing had showed direct effect over the health related quality of life Further the risk identification at early stage and follow up of foot care practices reduced the risk of diabetic foot ulcer development in the unaffected limb newline newline newline
