Abstract
The empowerment of women is significant tool for socio-economic development of any nation and crucial instrument for building a strong base for social changes which are necessary for betterment of the nation. In context to socio-economic development of the nation, empowerment of women is pre-condition attain by enhancement in their roles upto ideal level. India has been known for male-dominations. Indian women are the victims of their social and economic aspects but, now-a-days, situation is changing. The women know their fundament and human rights. They are becoming much aware about the law and order. They are absolutely at the equal level and not inferior in any manner than men. Now, they are proving themselves equal with men in men in every field of life. In India, majority of SHGs are leading by women with support from their family members as well as from society. The group is by nature formed as socio-economic homogeneity, smaller size, functionality, involvement, voluntary operative saving mode, and involvement of non-political women. Therefore, the study has been undertaken with following objectives: to study the socio-economic impact on the well-being of the members of SHGs, to analyze the performance for income, expenditure, and saving patterns of the Self Help Groups, to analyze the problems faced by SHGs and members of SHGs, and to suggest some measures to overcome the problems faced by SHGs.
