Impact of parenting style and emotional intelligence on academic achievement of adolescents

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of parenting style and emotional newlineintelligence on academic achievement of adolescents. It also examined the difference newlinein parenting styles, emotional intelligence and academic achievement as a function of newlinegender, geographical locale, socio economic status and family structure. It was an newlineexploratory study therefore the researcher employed a correlational analysis design. newlineThe participants of the study included 973 adolescents studying in various second newlineyear Pre University Colleges of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts of newlineKarnataka. The sample were drawn from private and government colleges, from newlinedifferent geographical backgrounds rural and urban, different socio- economic newlinebackgrounds, different family structure and studying in different disciplines of newlinesubjects such as arts, science and commerce. newline
