Analysis and impact of different quality of service qos requirement in terms of energy efficiency using mac protocol

Abstract

newlineMaterials and Methods: To perform an analysis of existing MAC, some QoS aware MAC protocols are selected and compared them based on the literature and, also created a script that simulates SMAC and TMAC protocols and compares them by plotting the graphs. In the proposed work priority-based energy-efficient MAC protocol is designed, developed and named as TRIPR MAC. The TRIPR MAC takes dynamic input for numbers of the sink nodes and numbers of sensor nodes. As per the energy level of a node, the network environment will select the specific nodes as a cluster head(The sink node). The cluster head broadcasts the routing table to all the sensors nodes in a range which consists of the information of sleep, wake up and transmission schedule of each member of the cluster. For routing purposes, various routing protocols are analyzed and simulated and based on the performance the AODV protocol is selected, and 802.11b is used as wireless MAC. In this research, the algorithms for polling, Queue selection, priority allocation, and priority-based data transmission are designed and developed. The Priority of nodes is divided into three categories which are based on node locations and the threshold value. The proposed research work is simulated for 100 seconds with a maximum of 255 nodes. And also plot the graph of numbers of nodes vs. energy, numbers of nodes vs. delay and numbers of nodes vs. throughput by using NS3, Pyviz, and NetAnim tools. newline newlineResults and Discussion: The TRIPR MAC is compared with standard SMAC and TMAC data transmission in terms of energy where TMAC performs better then SMAC Protocol. And TRIPR MAC performs better then TMAC in terms of energy for the same inter-packet interval as well as diffrent inter-packet intervals. The Proposed work achieves priority-based data transmission with the energy as a result compared to standard MAC protocols SMAC and TMAC. newline newlineConclusion: In the proposed work, the TRIPR MAC, TMAC, and SMAC are simulated with same inter-packet intervals(IPI) then the proposed protocol achieves
