Optimisation of the Baseband Processor for Modernised GNSS Signals in Challenging Environments

Abstract

quotTo tap the huge potential benefits in the navigation domain and related applications newlinesuch as LBS (Location Based Services) and telemetry, rapid advancements are made in the newlinefield of GNSS. Active participation and funding from various countries have further fuelled newlinethe growth of this niche technology. To effectively utilise the benefits from the GNSS newlinesystems, the ground GPS receiver, which employs the combination of typical superheterodyne newlineprinciple and the digital receiver principle, has to receive and process the signal to newlinedecode the navigation information and derive the user position. The baseband correlator in newlinesuch a receiver performs the critical function of acquiring the available satellite signals that newlineare visible at the given time and track the signal continuously to decode the navigation data newlinefrom the signal. The acquisition and tracking functions are performed by the acquisition and newlinetracking loops that are built inside the digital GPS receiver.quot newline newline
