Antimicrobial and Cytokine Mediated Immunomodulatory Effect of Lawsonia Inermis Linn in Salmonella Typhimurium Infection

Abstract

Indian subcontinent has rich source of various plants in the ecosystem. It is a traditional medicine system in this country in which 8000 sps. of plant used in primary health care. In India various plants were discovered having medicinal properties. But due to lack of scientific validation medical experts disagree to use them as a remedy for many health problems. newlineDiverse use of L. inermis Linn. was described in ancient history of India. The present study was done to authenticate the diverse use of L. inermis as well as to find the non-toxic dose. The non-toxic dose of L. inermis was determined in experimental animals. Further immunomodulatory properties, splenocyte proliferation, cytokine induction and antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhimurium infection in rats was investigated. newline
